I wish I could report that we have some wonderful trips planned for 2025 but unfortunately we don’t … yet.
We did have plane tickets to New Zealand for next month — for what would have been our fourth visit — but we have canceled the trip. We bought the tickets last year when we naively assumed that the 2024 election would go differently. We have decided to stay home, save the money, and see how things go here in the U.S. in the coming months.
We have also been talking about another trip to Europe in the spring, but again, we are waiting to see how things go here in the U.S.
A new administration wouldn’t normally rattle us like this, but 1) we’ve experienced this president before and 2) this time around he and his cronies have made their intentions very clear.
In related news, today is the fourth anniversary of the attack on the United States Capitol.
How about y’all? How are you feeling about travel in 2025 and what plans have you made so far?
I have no plans to travel outside the US, but I did write a small list of quick trips that could be done on long weekends: New River Valley Gorge National Park in West Virginia, Highland County, VA, and Hobart, NY which is a designated "book town."
We are all watching and waiting to see what happens in the US. We are due to make a return trip to see family but I can honestly say I’m not in a rush to return right now.
