“Laughing over here because looking at you both, I have no clue if it’s hot or cold out.”
The quote above is from one of my Instagram posts last October when my husband and I were traveling out west.
In this case, we were in Idaho hiking at Craters of the Moon N.M. The temperature was in the 40s (Fahrenheit) and I was wearing multiple wool layers and my husband was wearing a short-sleeve merino shirt and cotton cargo shorts (always). He had been wearing a merino wool pullover but had taken it off when he got too warm.
This is a regularly occurring theme for us. We almost always dress for different climates. Even during our western adventure, when he never once wore the wool leggings/tights/long johns or wool joggers/casual pants he had packed, not even on the days it snowed and the highs were hovering around freezing. He did wear the aforementioned merino pullover and a puffer coat most days, but his lower legs remained uncovered.
Meanwhile, every day I wore wool layer upon wool layer and accessorized with more wool.
On a couple of the coldest days, I’m pretty sure he would have been more comfortable with his warmer, longer layers, but by that point, I had reminded him of the existence of those layers in his backpack so many times that he dug his heels in and did his own thing.
So yeah, looking at the photos from our trip, I can see why someone would be confused about the weather.
Why are men…🤔 sigh.
