Before you read below, you absolutely must read this post about the worst car in Iceland. Trust me, it’s worth your time AND it’s relevant to the story below.
We have been fancy car people (Volvo XC90, Chevy Suburban) and not so fancy car people. We are mid-fancy (Jeep Cherokee). But, imagine our delight when we were upgraded to BMWs on our 10 day jaunt through the Netherlands, an SUV and a wagon. We incurred $600 worth of speeding tickets...but that's another story.
First of all, being neophyte Euro drivers we mistook the speed limit signs for KPH.
BUT we were in the countryside (visiting where K's people are from) and there were notorious speed traps. 2 cars. Many evening excursions. BMW's. We were zipping around. We paid the first $200 worth of tickets and then our Dutch friends told us we were crazy - that it was a scam....so we are scofflaws in Holland.
